Jam Tarts Recipe
Ingredients
  • 250g plain flour
  • 125g butter
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tsp of vanilla essence
  • 100g jam or filling of your choice
Method
  1. Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas .
  2.  Butter a 12 hole tart baking tray.
  3. Place the flour and butter in a bowl and rub them together to until you achieve a breadcrumb texture.
  4.  Add the egg and vanilla essence and mix together until the mixture combines into a ball.
  5. Roll out the pastry to a few milometers in thickness and cut some rounds just bigger than the holes in your tray.
  6. Place each round in the tray and add some of the jam on top of each one.
  7. Bake for 15-20 mins.

 

Kids’ guide
  1. Ask a grown up to turn on the oven. 
  2. Rub butter around each hole in the baking tin.
  3. Measure 250g of plain flour.
  4.  Measure 125g of butter.
  5.  Place the flour and butter in a bowl and rub together with your fingers.
  6. Crack the egg into the bowl and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence.
  7.  Mix all the ingredients together.
  8. Spread some flour on the table then place the pastry on the table and roll it flat.
  9. Use a shape cutter to cut out 12 circles of pastry.
  10. Place the pastry circles in each of the holes in the tin.
  11.  Add a spoonful of jam to each pastry circle.
  12.  Ask a grown up to put them in the oven.
